5.3. Adjustment of idling and the maintenance WITH

As it was already mentioned, in service centre Volkswagen use special devices for check. Nevertheless it is possible to check up adjustment of idling and the maintenance WITH independent, having taken advantage of a tachometre and the device for measurement of the maintenance WITH. The device should be inserted, using corresponding connection, in an exhaust pipe, and a tachometre to connect according to the instruction. Following conditions should be preliminary satisfied:
- To warm up the engine to working temperature. All consumers of an electric current should be disconnected. During the control the fan should not work;
- The release system should not have admissions;
- The ignition moment should correspond to the demanded. It can be checked up and in case of need to modify as it is described in подразд. 7.4. The given values are valid for all engines with system of injection Mono-Motronic;
- To connect a tachometre and the device for measurement of the maintenance WITH according to instructions;
- To start up the engine and to allow to it to work some time idling. After stabilisation of frequency of rotation of idling to take readings of a tachometre and the device measuring the maintenance WITH. If frequency of rotation of idling makes 750 850 mines-1, and the maintenance WITH equal 0,2–1,0 % to spend other check it is not required. Pay attention that the faulty ljambda-gauge can show and inexact values of the maintenance WITH. If values of frequency of rotation idling or maintenances WITH are not in the specified limits, it is necessary to address in automobile repair shop and to check up electronic devices.
