8.5.3. Differential adjustment

The differential is subject to adjustment if replacement of rings of bearings, картера a transmission or differential bearings was spent. The indicator, the ground testing plate established on a semiaxial gear wheel are thus necessary стрелочный. For adjustment it is necessary to execute the following:
- запрессовать in картер transmissions an external ring of the bearing (the party of a conducted conic cogwheel) together with a washer established under it in the thickness of 1,0 mm. The thickness of a washer always should be 1,0 mm, its designation — S1;
- запрессовать on other party in картер transmissions a ring of the bearing without a washer. Rings of bearings are made in the complete set, to use them it is possible only in the complete set;
- To establish in картер differential and to connect both halves (both картера) by means of bolts. Preliminary to beat out adjusting pins. To tighten bolts the moment 25 Нм;

- To establish on differential testing plate VW 385/17, as is shown in fig. 207; At its absence it is possible to use also the testing plate which has passed thin grinding provided that it approaches in the sizes under a flange aperture;
- To establish стрелочный the indicator so that a measuring pin had landing to a plate, and to establish on it a preliminary tension of 1,0 mm;

- To move differential alternately that to one in other party and to watch instrument readings (fig. 208);
- The thickness of other compensatory washer increases by 0,30 mm (a preliminary tension). If the received result of moving makes, for example, 1,50 mm the thickness of the second compensatory washer (its designation S2) can be calculated as follows.

The measured value       of 1,50 mm
Value of a preliminary tension       of 0,30 mm
The thickness of compensatory washer S2 is defined so:       1,5+0,3=1,80 (mm);

- There is 21 type various on a thickness of compensatory washers, and also a washer in the thickness of 1,0 mm at a difference in thickness between the next washers on the size, equal 0,05 mm. Thanks to it always it is possible to pick up precisely the necessary size;
- Again to remove картер transmissions, выпрессовать a ring of the bearing without a compensatory washer, to establish compensatory washer S2 established by calculation and запрессовать a bearing ring.
