10.2. Adjustment люфта the steering mechanism

If between a gear wheel and gear рейкой the steering mechanism too big люфт the steering at car movement will knock. On the contrary, if люфт between a small gear wheel and gear рейкой it is too small, the steering will be heavy, the steering wheel will independently not come back in average position. Described below work spend at the removed steering. Steering adjustment consists that the emphasis рейки moves more close to it or further from it. Adjustment is carried out by means of the adjusting screw which has been screwed in in a face cover of the steering mechanism. To find this screw, it is necessary to put the car on support and to look from below at the steering mechanism. On a left-hand side the oval cover with the screw in the middle is visible is an adjusting screw. Adjusting works carry out with the assistant. A face head, шарнирная the insert and the extension piece for this purpose be required. The car is necessary for establishing on an elevating platform that there was an access to the adjusting screw from the bottom party.

Adjustment should be spent so:

- To establish the car on the lift;

- To establish wheels in position directly and to turn a steering wheel in both parties approximately on 30 . If the steering requires adjustment knock will be audible;

- Slowly to screw in in a cover the adjusting screw while knock will not disappear. On fig. 240 it is shown how to establish the complete set of tools consisting of a face head and шарнирной of an insert with the extension piece;

- To execute a trial trip. If the steering wheel does not come back independently in average position the adjusting screw should be weakened a little; if люфт on a steering wheel it is still felt, tighten the screw a little more.
