9.2.1. Replacement of the internal hinge of equal angular speeds

On fig. 221 the assembly diagramme of a drive of wheels is presented. It is necessary to pay attention to the following:

- (SHRUS) it is necessary to grease internal and external hinges of equal angular speeds in addition, having disassembled for the control. To greasing to apply only the plastic greasing used by firm Volkswagen (G 000 603);

- The protective goffered cover of the internal hinge of equal angular speeds fastens on the hinge, therefore it should be removed to replace a cover. The external cover is fixed by means of collars. In the text the rubber goffered covers are mentioned, actually they are made not of rubber, and from a special material;

- For fastening of collars of covers it is used special pincers. Therefore before to replace the hinge, it is necessary to familiarise with подразд. 9.3.

At shaft dismantling it is necessary to execute following operations:

- To clamp a power shaft in a vice;

- By means of special pincers VW 161а (fig. 222) to remove a spring lock ring from a corbel of an internal SHRUS;

- Using оправку, cautiously to bring down from the hinge a protective cap with a cover (fig. 223). Оправку it is necessary to establish serially in various points on a cap circle not to admit its warp;

- To establish the SHRUS under a press and to squeeze out a shaft from the hinge;

- To remove from a shaft a spring washer. To pay attention to feature of its installation, as a washer convex. Больший its diameter adjoins to the hinge. Besides, at a washer is internal шлицы;

- To check up all details of the hinge on deterioration and presence of damages. Excessive люфт causes noise at car movement, therefore it is necessary to replace such hinge in gathering;

- To establish a spring washer on a shaft so that camber was from above, i.e. больший diameter should adjoin to the hinge, and internal шлицы washers should be combined with шлицами a shaft;

- напрессовать the hinge on a shaft, and a shaft should lean against a support from below;

- To insert into a groove a new spring lock ring. If it is necessary to establish its pincers used at repair of water pumps;

- To put in the hinge 90 г specified above plastic greasing. Half of volume of greasing to put on the one hand, half — with another. To establish a cover on a power shaft. A protective cap cautiously to establish on the hinge with the help оправки. According to instructions подразд. 9.3 to fix a fixing collar of a cover.
