14.3.1. Check and replacement brake колодок

On an underside of brake boards stoppers after which removal it is possible to check up a thickness of brake overlays are established. On fig. 298 it is shown, where there is a viewing aperture. Will light a pocket small lamp in it. If the thickness of an overlay has decreased as a result of deterioration approximately to 2,5 mm колодки it is necessary to change in the complete set, on both wheels.
For replacement колодок it is necessary to execute the operation following:
- To raise a back part of the car and to establish it on support;
- To substitute an emphasis under back wheels;
- To return in a starting position the adjustment mechanism, otherwise brake колодки can get stuck in a drum. With that end in view it is necessary to insert behind into a drum through one of carving apertures a screw-driver, to grope regulating wedge of the mechanism and to push out it upwards. The mechanism is at the left on the top party of a drum (fig. 299);

- To uncover naves, cautiously hooking a screw-driver or using for this purpose the special tool shown on fig. 285;

- To remove a brake drum. At its jamming once again to wring out upwards regulating wedge, as is shown in fig. 299;

- To press a finger from an underside the pins keeping brake колодки, to grasp flat-nose pliers a spring plate on lateral aspect колодки (the top arrow on fig. 301) to wring out it inside and to develop until a pin head does not begin to spend probably through a spring. To remove a spring plate, a spring and a pin. To spend this work on both колодках;
- To undertake one колодку a hand on the bottom party and to take out it from a support. To unhook a hook of the liberated bottom returnable spring;
- To develop both brake колодки downwards, as is shown in fig. 302, and to disconnect a cable of a lay brake from колодки;

- To clamp brake колодки in a vice, as is shown in fig. 303, and to unhook by means of flat-nose pliers a clamping spring of a regulating wedge and the top returnable spring. To remove one колодку, having disconnected on the one hand разжимную a lath;
- To raise разжимную a lath before position when its spring will be liberated also it it will be possible to unhook and completely to remove. Also to take out regulating wedge, having remembered, as it has been established;
- Carefully to clear all details. Especially to check up a condition of rubber covers of brake cylinders. At detection of leaks of a liquid it is necessary to repair or replace cylinders;

- To clamp колодки, as is shown in fig. 304, in a vice, to establish a tension spring and to insert разжимную a lath in колодку. Both operations to spend simultaneously. For this purpose it is necessary to stretch a spring while it will not be fixed;

- To insert regulating wedge in колодки and to collect колодки, as is shown in fig. 305. To fix the top returnable spring. For exact fastening of springs to be guided by fig. 300;

- To fix a cable of a lay brake, to dissolve both brake колодки from above and to establish the top ends колодок in pistons of the brake cylinder of a wheel, without having damaged thus rubber covers;
- To fix the bottom returnable spring and to establish left колодку on a support;
- To fix a clamping spring of a regulating wedge and to raise колодку a screw-driver over a support;
- To establish keeping pins колодок in sequence, return dismantling;
- To establish a brake drum and to adjust the bearing of a nave of a back wheel (подразд. 13.2);
- Some times to press a brake pedal, to put in action the adjusting mechanism in a back brake.
